What a year 2020 has been for all of us. There have been so many shifts and changes in each of our lives. Some dreams that we have had to grieve. Some losses that we have had to take. On the other side, we have seen the birth of new relationships and dreams. I talked to a friend on the phone and told her that for me this year was my year of reckoning. This was the year where who I pretended to be fought against who I actually am.
The year where I challenged beliefs and questioned things that I was taught and lived by.
The year where I realized I preferred to wear big t-shirts and slides over tight dresses and pumps.
The year I realized serving my community was truly something that my soul craved no matter how unprofitable it may be.
The year I chose me over all of the hateful and hurtful things, society and others may say about me.

But I could not have gotten this far without first getting a little closer to peace. I had to work, dig, and search to find something that would transform and mold me on the inside. My journey has hit curbs, stopped abruptly, and even a few accidents but I kept going. I knew that I wanted to live a life where I could be fully accountable and look back and say “what a life”. I’m more open and clear on what my life looks like and what it means to me.
As I write this with peace and fulfillment, I pray that no matter where you are or who you are that a reckoning finds you. That you are forced to choose what you really value over what you pretend to be. ❤️
